Running can be fun, challenging, memorable and incredibly rewarding. But if you’re at the point where running is none of the above and you struggle to find the motivation to lace up your shoes and log some miles, it might be time to switch things up. The key to preventing burnout is, like with most activities, changing up the details of your workout.
We enlisted Alex, who we’ve deemed the “trier of things,” to try trail running and three kinds of speedwork. Not only do these run activities add variety to your routine, they can also help you improve aerobic capacity, leg strength, technique and (of course) speed.
